چکیده

In order to improve the performance of methane production from agro-waste, a batched four-stage–two-phase anaerobic digestion (4S2P-AD) system was designed combine advantages both co-digestion (co-AD) and two-phase AD. The initial separation two phases performed using rice straw (RS) as feedstock in acidogenic phase cow manure (CM) methanogenic at low inoculum/substrate (I/S) ratios 0.5 0.2 high organic loading 60 g volatile solid (VS)/L. periodic round-trip reflux leachate during 4S2P-AD process facilitated re-inoculation throughout four stages. results showed that this also dispersed toxic ammonia, balanced carbon/nitrogen ratio, unified microbial community structure, led selection Methanosarcina (relative abundance > 80%) dominant methanogens. With abilities overcome fatty acid accumulation, shorten lag times, biodegradability, foster synergistic effects, it verified can maintain efficient stable methanogenesis high-solid lignocellulosic feedstock. averaged stages 234 mL/g VS. This result is 96% higher than obtained one-step AD groups mono-feedstock, 91% co-feedstock. study provides scientific reference for development new processes bio-methane agro-waste with fermentation capacity stability future.

Modelling Anaerobic Digestion of Cow Manure to Predict Methane Flow Rate

Anaerobic digestion (AD) of biowastes is one of the most common ways to produce methane-rich biogas, which has considerable potential to replace the fossil fuel used in multiple applications, such as vehicular transportation, internal combustion engines, cogeneration of heat and power systems and many other systems. Many companies are involved in the design and construction of anaerobic digesti...

methane production from anaerobic co-digestion of poultry manure

this study investigated the effect of loading and temperature on anaerobic co-digestion of poultry manure with straw in mesophilic conditions. the study was made at lab-scale using 70l reactor with a hrt of 15 days. during the first phase, different loads of 1.0, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 kg vs/m3.d were studied in order to produce biogas. at load of 3.0 kg vs/ m3.d, vs removal and gas product...

Mass and Energy Balances of Dry Thermophilic Anaerobic Digestion Treating Swine Manure Mixed with Rice Straw

To evaluate the feasibility of swine manure treatment by a proposed Dry Thermophilic Anaerobic Digestion (DT-AD) system, we evaluated the methane yield of swine manure treated using a DT-AD method with rice straw under different C/N ratios and solid retention time (SRT) and calculated the mass and energy balances when the DT-AD system is used for swine manure treatment from a model farm with 10...

Characterization of microbial community structure during continuous anaerobic digestion of straw and cow manure

Responses of bacterial and archaeal communities to the addition of straw during anaerobic digestion of manure at different temperatures (37°C, 44°C and 52°C) were investigated using five laboratory-scale semi-continuous stirred tank reactors. The results revealed that including straw as co-substrate decreased the species richness for bacteria, whereas increasing the operating temperature decrea...

Enhanced Methane Production from Pilot-Scale Anaerobic Digester Loaded with Rice Straw

A novel co-digestion approach was evaluated to determine if agricultural and industrial waste residues could efficiently degrade straw without pretreatment. Untreated rice straw was co-digested with pig wastewater and anaerobic sludge from the pulp and paper mill treatment process in a pilot-scale digester (1 m) operated in dry, mesophilic conditions. The total weight ratio of dry straw to pig ...
